End?

July-December 2013 is my batch as a semester 4 student.  I already learnt so much in all subjects in semester 4 especially the CRITICAL LITERACY subject. After learning this subject from Madam Zariati, I view it as a “simple” subject. “Simple” here does not mean like as easy as ABC or 123. But simple here means that in this subject we need to explore more as long as you can. You need to think carefully to find the best answer in terms of how, what, who, why and where it happens. Besides, in this subject, we also need to do a lot of reading and research in order to find the best solution. If you cannot do it, I believe that you will not succeed in this subject. Furthermore, my view in this subject is, we can give our opinion and point of view because it is your point of view that you can provide evidence but must base on the fact and logical.

Based on my experience, the lecture will give the articles to do some exercise or to complete the assignment, thus through this way I believe that student will gain the knowledge from reading a lot of articles. Furthermore, in this subject student also need to do some discussion with the other student or lecture to get other ideas or opinion from them to make a good assumption. During the discussion I have got the great memories because we get to know the new knowledge from zero.

Have any suggestion or comment for this subject?

I think, yes. I recognize that the student (including me) we have no spirit during the class. Thus, we need to do some alteration to make more fun and enjoyable such as to do some outdoor activity.

'Nik Aziz and Hadi's lack of empathy' by Syed Umar Ariff - fourth entry

Based on the article by the journalist from NST, Syed Umar Ariff has claimed in his article about ‘Nik Aziz and Hadi’s lack of empathy’. In this article told about the leader of PAS, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has spoken about the BR1M recipients telling that there are fools but not in directly. The evidence can be seen in the phrases “If you want to be a fish, be a smart one by getting away with the bait…do not be a stupid fish by being hooked”. Besides, the most important people in the PAS Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat also condemn the BR1M recipients by likening them to farm animals; chicken and cow. The evidence also can be seen in the phrases “Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat had been drawing flak from the people for likening BR1M recipients to farm animals; chicken and cows…” Thus, from this issue the writer believe that the two of important person in PAS is not very polite in saying this thing in public.

I agree with the writer view because as a human that has full respect by people, they should not be like a human that no have sympathy to the BR1M recipients. Even though, they are people from the opposite parties but they should not condemn people like that with using the harsh word to symbolize the people who took BR1M from the government. For me, if they feel what the government effort to help people is using the wrong way, they should oppose in the proper way or they should look for the other strategies to gain voters. Who know those BR1M recipients will be their voters.

"Dire need for English to be a must-pass subject" by Lavanya Lingan - third entry

Based on the article by Lavanya Lingan, “Dire need for English to be a must-pass subject” dates 25th February 2013 taken from NST is about the student who takes the Sijil pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) must be serious to pass in English subject. I strongly agree with the issue that is being discussed about, because after students leave school they will carry on their study to the upper level such as college or university. Thus, they will face the challenges in their upper level study in exposure of using the English language such as to do the assignment, references and while study in the class also. If they do not constantly using the English language since school, I believe they will not achieve their success in the future. Why I say it like that? Because I believe that having the knowledge in study of English language is the more important thing in life if they want to be successful. As we know, English has been placed as second important language in Malaysia. Thus, the residents in Malaysia are needed to learn and practice the English language as well.

Besides, the quotation from the article, “…necessary measures to improve facilities and train teacher have to be taken to ensure student will not suffer at the end of the day” it is right because I believe this is one of the best way to do some alteration if they want the student to be successful by using English language. I think the government should take the responsibility in this issue by providing good trainer teachers such as teachers from overseas.
